Later this month, Wolves Records, the innovative record label backed by the club, are hosting a special LOUDER event at The Halls, previously known as the Wolverhampton Civic Hall until it was closed for renovation in recent years.

Russell Jones, general manager for marketing & commercial growth, said: “We are very excited to bring LOUDER at The Halls to the city, where we’ll be showcasing a number of Wolves Records artists. Not only will it be a fantastic night of live music, but this collaboration also demonstrates AEG’s commitment to supporting the communities of Wolverhampton through the Wolves Foundations.”

Wolves and Fosun declare ‘Together we build a Malaria-free world’

Wolves are showing their support of the One-Fosun movement on 2023 World Malaria Day, declaring ‘Together We Build A Malaria-Free World’.

At half-time of Tuesday evening’s Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace, Wolves Records artist Sophia Saffarian will also take to the Molineux pitch to perform her new single ‘Better Days’ – a track which is supporting malaria awareness.

Birmingham-born Sophia said: “I was invited to create something special to support a Malaria Awareness campaign with [Wolves owners] Fosun – a longstanding cause which has really motivated me to create a song that is positive, instils hope and encourages unity, whilst addressing the fact that real change is needed.

“I wanted to create something that makes you want to move and sing but still has thought-provoking lyrics. Something feel-good that makes you feel something and reflect.”

Malaria is a preventable and curable life-threatening disease caused by parasites that are transmitted to people through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes.

In 2021, there were an estimated 247 million cases of malaria and 619,000 malaria-related deaths worldwide. Children under the age of five in sub-Saharan Africa continued to account for over two-thirds of global deaths from malaria.

The Together We Build A Malaria-Free World campaign was launched by Fosun Pharma together with Fosun Foundation in 2017 in support of the global goal to end malaria by 2030.

World Malaria Day, which takes place on 25th April each year, celebrated the progress achieved by a diverse set of countries that have reached zero malaria since 2000 and encourages all nations to accelerate efforts towards achieving a malaria-free world.

The WHO (World Health Organization) announced World Malaria Day 2023 will be marked under the theme ‘Time to deliver zero malaria: invest, innovate, implement’.

“At Wolves, we are proud to be supporting the Together We Build A Malaria-free World campaign together with the One-Fosun family worldwide,” said club captain Ruben Neves. “Malaria is an entirely preventable and treatable disease but is still killing thousands every year.

“We hope to raise the profile of this campaign by supporting it as a Premier League football club, in partnership with the Fosun Foundation and Fosun Pharma, and help many organisations who are working hard to eliminate this deadly disease.”

Split the Dealer joins Wolves Records

Pop-rock artist Split the Dealer has signed up to Wolves Records and celebrates with the release of his new single Capsize, which is out now.

Hailing from the Reading music scene, Split the Dealer combines 90s rock and modern pop, encasing soft vocals with a gritty outer-shell, and performed live at Wolves Records’ third Louder event in September 2022.

His track Chinchilla has already enjoyed more than one million streams on Spotify, with XV surpassing 100,000 and both Hard to Take and Dreamstate close behind, meaning Split the Dealer is already an established artist, ready to make some serious noise.

Split the Dealer said: “It’s such a mad moment. I’ve been writing some of my favourite material recently and I’m excited to be working with Wolves Records to get them out into the world.”

Having already sold out his headline shows, Split the Dealer was a finalist in the American Express’ Unsigned competition, selected in the top six of 1,600 submissions, whilst he was also played at Unsigned, hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders.

His track Dreamstate featured as the soundtrack of Dream League Soccer 2022, while Hard to Take was also the soundtrack of Dream League Soccer this year, with the game’s base of three million players bringing incredible traction to his YouTube account.

Having also enjoyed success with High Rockets, Split the Dealer now releases Capsize, which is now available via all streaming platforms.

On his new single, he explained: “In my generation there’s a lot of pressure to get to a certain point by a certain age, whether that’s career related, family or something else, it seems to creep up on a lot of people, especially at night.

“I wrote this for all the overthinkers, and people that can easily slip down the hole of feeling maybe they’re not going to get where they want too, but they will.”

Ben Kidson’s single Joking released

Ben Kidson’s brand new single ‘Joking’ is now available to stream on all popular music platforms.

The singer followed Reepa in joining forces with Wolves Records earlier this month, after being assisted by musical legend and Wolves vice-president Robert Plant.

Kidson performed Joking live on the Molineux pitch at half-time of Saturday’s Premier League fixture with Leeds United, as well as in the Fan Zone pre-match.

Now, Joking is available via Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, YouTube Music, Tidal and iTunes.

Listen and download across multiple platforms here

A Wolves supporter himself, Kidson first played at Molineux back in September, at the third Louder event, and donned a retro old gold shirt as he wowed supporters.

An American Express ‘Unsigned’ competition finalist in July 2022, he features heavily in the accompanying documentary on Amazon Prime, Unsigned.

His new single Joking is the soundtrack to an advert for the documentary which has garnered seven million views on TikTok, and his music has also featured in the likes of the BBC’s Killing Eve and ITV’s Sticks and Stones.

The single is about when the artist drank too much and told one of his close friends that he was in love with them. Now, awake again and supremely hungover, he attempts damage control; but the problem is, he was telling the truth.

Kidson signs to Wolves Records and releases new single

Wolves supporter Ben Kidson is the latest artist to sign with Wolves Records and celebrates with the launch of his new single later this month.

True to the style and unique set-up of Wolves Records, Kidson’s signing was assisted by musical legend Robert Plant.

The lead singer of Led Zeppelin and Wolves vice-president is a fan of Ben’s music and delivered a signed shirt to him at Warner Music Group’s head office.

Kidson, whose new single Joking will be available from Thursday 23rd March, follows Reepa as the second artist to sign with Wolves Records.

On signing to Wolves Records, Kidson said: “It’s mad to be signing to a record label, let-alone a record label that is also my football team. It’s nice to be able to represent my club, as well as doing something I love.”

Back in September, Kidson performed at his first Louder event at Molineux, donning a retro Wolves away shirt, and wowed a sell-out crowd with his performance.

Combining the alt-rock energy of his heroes Nirvana with a love for the pop music of Harry Styles and Taylor Swift, Kidson is ready to join the pop-punk revolution himself.

The single itself is about the time Kidson drank too much and told one of his close friends that he was in love with them. Now, awake again and supremely hungover, he attempts damage control; but the problem is, he was telling the truth.

Joking is the current BBC Introducing South West Upload of the Week for 2022, as well as BBC South West Track of the Week.

A finalist for the Isle of Wight New Blood competition last year, Kidson has also played SW Lockdown Festivals Airwaves and Poltimore, as well as Amex Unsigned.

From 23rd March, music fans will be able to listen to Joking on all the usual music platforms.

Wolves Records release provides kit reveal soundtrack

The first official release on Wolves Records, The Pack by Reepa, provided the soundtrack for the Wolves new kit unveiling on Thursday morning.

As Wolves’ new Castore strip for the 2022/23 campaign was released, the club turned to the local artist to enrich the unveiling, which showed members of the men’s and women’s first-teams posing in the new strip.

Grime artist Reepa, who headlined the second LOUDER event at Molineux in March, hails from Wolverhampton, showing the Wolves Records pathway of exposing the musical talents within the local area.

Supporters can listen to The Pack on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and YouTube by clicking here.

Reepa wrote The Pack bespoke for the kit unveiling, representing his city, and the song’s potential appearance in the music charts will increase exposure for the area and Wolves Records.

Wolves’ general manager of marketing and commercial growth, Russell Jones, said: “The primary target for Wolves Records when we began the unique project last year was to provide a platform for local artists to gain more exposure and we’re extremely proud to have handed this opportunity to Reepa, who impressed the crowd so much at our second LOUDER event.

“Reepa created The Pack bespoke for our kit launch and we feel it complements our announcement video greatly. Now, we hope this opportunity can be the first of many collaborations between the club and Wolves Records in the future.

“We hope our supporters embrace this collaboration and are proud that a local artist has been able to contribute so much to what is always one of the biggest announcements of the year for the club.”

Reepa is also on social media and can be followed on Twitter here and Instagram here.

Relive hugely successful LOUDER event

Earlier this week, Wolves Records’ opening event LOUDER came to Molineux and the full show is available to relive for free on Wolves Radio.

LOUDER introduced some of the most exciting musical talents from across the midlands in its multi-genre line-up, offering an exciting platform to perform live.

Empress Linoleum, Jerub, K1 Strange, Benny Atlas, Ella More and Jazzie Martian all performed in the North Bank Bar at Molineux, exciting a busy crowd and creating a lively atmosphere.

Vital Powers hosted the evening and said: “This is one of the best things to happen to Wolverhampton. It’s such a great city, full of talent, and it leaks out to the local areas too. It’s a great place for talent and we never have the infrastructure. Wolves Records and Wolves having some of the best artists around the midlands, and artists we may not have seen, is so important.

“In the crowd, you wouldn’t believe how many artists were lingering, locking into the vibe, and it shows they care because they don’t have to be there, they have other things, but they’re interested in the new generation, the new vibes, and things that are to come. It’s so important we have it and support the ones that are upcoming.”

One artist performing on the night was Jerub, who said: “It was really fun. I’ve performed a few gigs and it was great be here in the environment and play to some great people. This is first time anyone has done anything like this.

“It’s pretty special to have a football club doing a record label. It offers a great opportunity for many artists, but also for football. I think it’s really cool. I feel like I’m relatively new to the journey, but I’m learning a lot as I go along.”

Since the successful launch in September, over 1,400 music submissions have been made to wolvesrecords.com. The next stage of the journey was to shortlist these music submissions and provide opportunities for the best talent to perform for a live audience and talent scouts, in the hope of signing for the label, which LOUDER provided.

Wolves Records would like to acknowledge and thank our event sponsor, DIS graphics. With a HQ in Wolverhampton, DIS Group has vast experience in all aspects of graphics work with the knowledge and resources to bring your vision to life. Whatever you can imagine DIS can deliver.
